Armstrong Siddeley 236 Sapphire LNJ 244

Chassis number 230380 was first registered in June 1956. It is a rare manumatic with overdrive. The car has had several owners over recent years. A few years ago the entire body was dismantles and soda blasted. At the time the bodywork was thought to be in excellent straight original condition. However, since then the car has changed hands more than once. The car has dents in every panel and is very badly painted, but remains remarkably solid. The interior is quite a mixed bag. The headlining is peeled back, but the original seats are exceptionally good except for a few marks and a little stitching on the front passenger seat that has parted. The wood is also in good condition.

The wiring has been partially replaced but is not thick enough and will need replacing. a full rewire would seem likely too be needed. We have had the engine running from a petrol can and battery.  The engine seems to be very strong.

The car has been upgraded with wire wheels with the correct Armstrong Siddeley spinners.

As the wiring is in a bad way we haven't been able to test the manumatic operated gearbox, brakes are unknown. When we collected the car, the brakes were stuck on but did free off easily.

The car comes with a spare offside rear door and a spare nearside front door.

An ideal project for someone good at panel beating.
