346 automatic with power steering

This is a 346 MK2 Sapphire Automatic with the rare factory power steering option. 

In the past it has been a wedding car and still presents very well in appearance. However, it has been off the road for some years and needs work. It does run with a noisy timing chain, the auto box looks to have been worked on as it is very clean, the fluid is also impressively clean and the power steering works but leaks a bit. The brakes need a complete overhaul with new cylinders, hoses, brake lines and many and likely all rubber bushes etc. will need replacing.. 

The car benefits from electronic ignition and electric fuel pump upgrades. 

It looks like the chassis is very solid and although the body presents quite well, a deeper inspection showed there is some fiberglass in the boot and wheel arches. The A pillars are a bit crusty under the paint. The sills have been worked on and appear good, the visible faces have a stainless steel cover trim. 

The interior is very presentable. The woodwork looks in good condition but would benefit from polishing up or varnishing.

The front  bench seat is excellent for its age. The rear seat has a white satin sheet cover over it. This was a bit tricky to look under this without damaging it, however we did find that the stiching had come undone on at least one side of the seat base. The rest of the rear seat wasn't looked at. 

The chrome looks good and mostly shiny. 

Due to the lack of working brakes, we haven't been able to test drive the car but it starts easily, goes into all gears and went forwards and backwards 10 feet. 

The exhaust has a few holes, most notably in the tail pipe. 

Since obtaining the car we have unstuck the brakes, replaced a broken half shaft and topped up the fluids. 

We believe that an enthusiastic owner could get this car in a usable condition with a few short weekends work, replacing the brakes and suspension rubbers as necessary. It is a very nice looking car and deserves to be saved.
